Welcome to Katie’s Comforters Guild’s BLOG!
The Guild is now OPEN,and you are invited to join.
Our business is making blankets and quilts for all new patients at Seattle Children’s Hospital. We hope to give every single child the gift of a hand-made blanket to comfort and cheer his stay at the hospital, whether it’s for one night or for months.
Our inspiration is Katie Gerstenberger, who was treated for cancer at Seattle Children’s Hospital as an inpatient and an outpatient from October, 2006 to August, 2007. Her quilt from home gave her a great deal of comfort.
Katie’s Comforters Guild’s board:
Karen Gerstenberger (Katie’s mom), President
Maribeth Hinderer, Vice President
Andrea Cunningham, Secretary
Linda Case, Treasurer
We will be posting patterns, news and information to help you enjoy the process of making quilts, knitted or crocheted blankets, or fleece blankets for kids who stay in the hospital.
You may donate your time, money, materials or gift cards…or all of the above! Please join us, and pass the word along! Comfort is our business, and our business is good!
I will leave you with a video from Paul Dudley Photography of Katie at Camp Goodtimes West, June 2007, watching “The Dance of Joy.”
I think it looks wonderful.
Love Renee xoxo

This is pretty awesome! Your daughter’s gift to other sufferers. What a girl she was/is. Blessings on you all.
